Wellness
Himalayan Salt Night Light - I’m obsessed with these night lights! I bought them when I first moved into my DC apartment, and they will now follow me to every home I live in. I have three spread out around my house—in the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The salt rock allegedly offers several wellness benefits—naturally cleanses the air, boosts mood and concentration, promotes easy breathing—but also adds a sunset color glow to your home throughout the day and night.
Magnesi-Om Supplement for Calm - I try to take a magnesium supplement daily! Magnesium promotes healthy sleep, muscle recovery, and digestion. I prefer to drink mine in a concoction or take it in pill form. You can also spray magnesium on your sore muscles and feet!
Kitsch Satin Pillowcase with Zipper for Hair & Skin - After many years of bleaching and heat styling my hair, I’ve thankfully learned how to take better care of my locks. One of my main hair care strategies is sleeping with satin pillowcases with my hair in a loose bun clipped on top of my head (yes, I sleep in a clip). My hair runs extremely dry, so I also use a hair mask weekly and hair oil daily to add moisture.
Fitness
Stakt Mat - this revolutionary foldable multi-purpose fitness and yoga mat has quickly become one of my favorite MCG class props. The mat is designed with extra padding to add more cushion for your joints, perfect for exercises like kneeling glutes and abs. Because of the cushion, it also promotes more of a challenge to keep your balance during core stability exercises like single-leg deadlifts and curtsy lunges. Stakt mats are available onsite during MCG in-person classes at Flex DC. Check them out in class or grab a Stakt mat for your home workouts.
Amazon Basics 2lb Hand Weights - An MCG classic prop for dancer arms! Grab your ones, twos, threes, Balas, or bodyweight, put on your favorite 4-minute song, and crank out dancer arms. We love a progression, so start out with one’s and then progress to two’s and three’s. Three pounds is the heaviest weight I recommend for dancer arms to keep your shoulders sexy and sculpted versus strained and in pain.
I hope you’re feeling strong, confident, and empowered going into the rest of your day!
